About CITRA
A Multidisciplinary Research Centre Established in March 2022 with focus on Training, Research and Consultancy in the area of Information Technology.

Elevate NIT Calicut to the smartest T- School in the country through intelligent and automated IT Enabled services in a sustainable manner for all academic, research, co-curricular and outreach activities.
Undertake sponsored R&D projects in Multi Disciplinary Areas where IT has a key role.
Promote research collaborations with Government and Quasi Govt. Agencies and R&D labs of Industries
Develop Automation software for various activities of the Institute.
Create Opportunity for NITC students to do projects on campus based problems and help them to ‘Earn while they Learn’.
Organize in-house programmes / trainings for NITC Faculty, Staff and Students on IT related services.
Organize training programmes/certificate courses and consultancy in the areas of Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence and related areas
Guide doctoral candidates in multi-disciplinary research areas involving IT.
Offer Internships for Students of other Universities and colleges
Automate all activities of the Institute including academic, research and co-curricular with smart IT enabled services.
Plan and propose state of the art IT infrastructure for the Institute.
Establish a research lab on Network Security and Wireless Analysis.
Execute funded R&D projects in the area of Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
Offer internship programs for NITC students for developing IT enabled services for the campus (Earn while you Learn).
RESEARCH AREAS OF CITRA
CITRA focuses on Inter Disciplinary areas of research where Applied Computer Science or Information Technology has a key role. CITRA explores avenues for funded R&D projects from India and abroad as well as from the Industry in projects which are multi-disciplinary in nature. CITRA also offers doctoral level research programmes (leading to PhD Degree of NITC).

Our Projects
Sustainable Applications for Mobility, Urban Development, and Resilience using Artificial intelligence (SAMUDRA)
- CoE AI - NITC envisions the project as a special-purpose vehicle for creating a positive impact on the lives of our citizens in the context of sustainable cities.
- In Phase I of the AI Centres of Excellence Initiative, CoE AI - NITC is working on multiple projects under Sustainable Applications for Mobility, Urban Development, and Resilience using Artificial intelligence (SAMUDRA) along with our consortium partners.
- The project outcomes include developing AI-based solutions that improve disaster preparedness through optimal monitoring of structural health, optimize traffic flow, facilitate intelligent parking and enhance the security of citizens.
